New Mexico taxpayers can now make payments to the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department by telephone through a self-service option on the Department’s Call Center number.

The new system, available at 866-285-2996, is available for payments in the following programs:  Personal Income Tax, Gross Receipts Tax, Oil and Gas, Combined Fuel Tax, Workman’s Comp Tax, and Weight Distance Tax.

The system will accept credit card payments on Visa, Discover, Master Card, and American Express. There is a transaction fee of 2.4% with a $1.55 minimum.

The Department, meanwhile, has closed its payment drop boxes at district offices until further notice.  The decision to close payment drop boxes will maximize employee telework and ensure greater adherence to COVID-safe practices.

Payments may also be made online through the Department’s Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) self-service portal, by mail or in person with a scheduled appointment.

Taxpayers wishing to make a payment in person will need to request an appointment through the Call Center at 866-285-2996.

To pay online, taxpayers can use the Department’s TAP system without having to create an account. Taxpayers may also use the TAP system to set up a payment plan.
