Environment Department
Major Changes as a Result of the Coronavirus
Throughout New Mexico, the Environment Department will offer critical public health services by appointment over the phone or through a video chat. These critical public health services include: ensuring safe drinking water, proper wastewater treatment, maximizing food safety, management of hazardous/medical waste, and occupational health and safety. Other permitting, remedial, and compliance activities will continue to the extent the Department can provide such services remotely (i.e., the need for public hearings may delay the permitting/remedial process).
The public may contact the Environment Department by calling (505) 827-2855 to request specific services. The Department will then advise how best to proceed.
If you are sick, stay home.
New Mexico law states that anyone working in a food establishment and experiencing symptoms of an acute onset of sore throat with fever shall be restricted in working in the food establishment.
Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19, including a fever, cough, runny nose and difficulty breathing, should call (855) 600-3453 for direction from the New Mexico Department of Health.
