During the public health emergency declared by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in Executive Order 2020-004, the Superintendent of the Regulation and Licensing Department, in consultation with the Chair of the Advisory Board of Respiratory Care Practitioners (Board) herein announce the following procedures for a COVID-19 Temporary Permit:

  1. Who may apply for the COVID-19 Temporary Permit:
    • Students that have completed educational requirements and are ready to work as externs;
    • Graduates (includes CRT); and
    • Out of state respiratory care licensees (proof of out of state licensure is required.)
  2. All COVID-19 Temporary Permit holders must be supervised by a New Mexico licensed Physician or a New Mexico licensed Respiratory Care Therapist.
  3. No fees will be charged for the COVID-19 Temporary Permit.
